More Gigs

Manchester cricket ground is not the best place to be in the rain, but a little rain is worth putting up with when the Foo Fighters are playing. As gigs go it wasn't the best I've been to, nothing tops Def Leppard, but it was good. Would have been better without the rain and the hour and a half traffic jam to get out from the car park, but they provided fireworks, so Woooo!
Of course the wanker with the cup of piss was amusing.
Let me explain...A guy needs to pee in the audience but doesn't want to move from his spot cos he'll never find it again, so the guy pees in a an empty cup that is lying on the ground then puts the lid back on again. We know what is in the cup.
Another guy and his irritating mate push there way through and stand in front of us, they are acting like wankers and generally being obnoxious. There is a girl sitting on someone's shoulders further forward, and although she isn'tdoing any harm as such, she isblocking peoples views of the stage. Wanker number 1 says to Gary, is there anything to throw at her. wanker number 2 says there's a cup down there. Gary says nothing about whats in the cup. Wanker number 1 says, it's no good if there's nothing in it cos it won't have any weight behind it. wanker number 2 picks up said cup and finding it full of something, proceeds to DRINK some of it. Wanker number 2 is pissed and still doesn't realise that it is full of piss even after drinking a bit (how pissed must you be???) he says "it's a bit warm"...I kid you not. wanker number 1 then takes the cup, and with excellent aim I must say, throws it at the girl, hitting her squarely on the back. Fortunately for the girl the lid didn't come off the cup, but she got down from her perch pretty sharpish. The guy that pissed in the cup in the first place, then comes over and tells the wankers that the cup was full of piss....heh you should have seen the look on the face of wanker number 2...decidedly ill is putting it mildly. Me, Gary and Sam were pissing ourselves...scuse the pun.

Anyway on a slightly more tasteful note, KT Tunstall, last night at the Apollo. And she was fantastic (Def Leppard still number 1). She really is a mad scottish girl, between songs she'd tell these mad stories. Her voice is amazing and she actually plays guitar, and sings, at the same time. She makes great use of a loop pedal too in a good majority of her songs. Fucking Ace is all I can say.

Events

So, Download.

One of the best times I have had in my life. I spent far too much money and didn't once get into the arena to see bans, and spend most of the week out of my skull, but itwas fantastic. To be honest it was better sitting on the grass on the hilly bit around the areana, cos you could still see the stage and were free to wander off and do shopping or whatever, Metallica...well they were amazing...must have played for nearly 3 hours...it's 20 years since they started. Korn...or Quorn... Look like Korn, Sound like Korn, but just ain't Korn....well you can't really blame the guy for not doing the gig as he was rushed into hospital with a blood count of five and was told that if he'd done the gig and had headbanged on stage he;d have died of a brain hemorage in a matter of minutes. I didn't think they were bad...they got singers from other bands like Trivium and a few others to do it, bt there were a lot of pissed off Korn fans coming out of the arena.
Cradle of Filth...well not my thing, Bullet for my valentine...what can I say, it's like boyband metal. And Guns 'n' Roses...or axel Rose and friends...well they were really good, but Axel threw a strop and walked off stage for half an hour, and apparently managed to cause a riot by being a prima donnaish wanker. We'd left by then and started the long drive hime to beat the morning panic on the monday.

On wednesday I ended up going to see The Pussy Cat Dolls, who were supporting the BLack Eyed Peas at the MEN in machester. PCD were crap, BEP were fucking great, except the MEN was far to hot and I fainter half way through...doh.

And then Last night I went to see DEF LEPPARD. 30 years old and still rocking. They were at Sheffield arena and it was the most amazing gig I've ever been to. They are Fucking Fantastic! I loved it when they were introducing everyon in the band and the singer dude (ok I'm crap at names) said about the drummer and how great he was after all he'd been through, and the whole crowd were jummping up and down and screaming and cheering for him and the poor guy looked really choked up because it was obvious that we all thought he was fantastic. It was bloody brilliant to see.
I did try and take some pictures but I don't know how well they've turned out. Im telling you now, if you EVER get the chance to see them...do it, it's worth every single penny.

I'm currently sitting in the house waiting for my lift to Gary's work by Craig before we all travel off to Derby (or nearabouts) and Donnington Park for DOWNLOAD 2006.

I can't sit still...it's only 3pm, and Craig isn't getting here til 4 or 4.30.
Is like I've got ants in my pants as my mum used to say.
Everything is packed, but the longer I sit here the more stuff I'll remember that I have forgotten to pack, that I don't really need anyway.

I might go and try to have a nap in a minute, I've had approximately 12 hours sleep in the last 96 hours, to be honest I don't know how I'm still going, and I doubt muchly that I'll get a huge amount of sleep over the next few days...festival camping is not condusive to 'a good night's sleep', or so I've heard anyway.

I'm really excited.

Stuff

I have had a bastard of a day.
I have had the eternal headache that won't go away.
My ear is still making swimmy noises when I move my head from Elton John on Monday.
Work dragged like a bastard.
And I've been trying to sort out getting my stuff back.
No way was I going to take time off work on friday to go and get it, just because Pete wasn't there.
I got my dad to give me a lift there tonight. And...well...I got the bag back. Pete wasn't there which is good. Apparently the rest is in a box, but typical of Pete he seems to have hidden said box in the mound of other boxes and clothes that are in his room.
So I will have to go back at some point when he's rooted it out to pick up the rest.
I am suspicious of the fact that the bag wasn't with the rest of my stuff. I am still convinced that the sneaky bastard was angling for keeping it, like I'd forget about it or something.
But anyway, I got the bag, the rest can wait.
On the ip side he didn't pack the bloody darlek which is standing sentinal outside his room. Thank God for that.
